Grinding Wheel Shapes - Conventional Abrasives
Grinding Wheels come in many different shapes and sizes. To be sure that you get exactly what you need here is some more information.
Below are some of more common types (or sometimes referred to as shapes) used to describe conventional grinding wheels (i.e. Bonded Abrasives in Aluminium Oxide, Silicon Carbide, Ceramic Aluminium Oxide, Zirconia Alumina) and the lettering used to describe the dimensions and particular features for the various types and shapes.
We are adding more information shortly
Type 1 - D x T x H

Type 5 - D x T x W, 1-P x F

Type 7 - D x T x H, 2-P x F/G

Grinding Wheel Face for Types 1, 5 & 7
These faces are used together with the above wheel types 1, 5 & 7 to describe anything other than a plain wheel. For example, if you are using a Type 1 wheel at 30° angle to grind both diameters and faces then you would require a 'Face N' which would make the wheel shape a Type 1N. In this case, a common example of a size and shape would be '400 x 40 x 127 - Type 1N - V=60, X=10'
For regularly used grades, sizes and shapes we may hold wheels in stock (or can get quickly) which have typical dimensions and shapes but on the occasions when you need something different, this is how to write it to avoid any confusion.
